[svp]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DWqTEZLTyk[/svp] Revell have launched the worlds smallest RC drone nano quad copter and it looks pretty cool.

The tiny fully functional RC Nano Quad measures only 45mm square. The awesome gadget takes approximately 30minutes to charge the lithium battery and has a 6 – 8 minutes flying time on one charge.

Fully controlled via a small handset, the drone also has blue and red led lights.

The problem with small drones is that they are very wind sensitive. It’s

banggood . com,  hongkong based webshop, i just got another one in the mail. Couple weeks waiting though, but €14,80 incl shipping… Low price for such a fun toy. Search for the "Cheerson CX-10", good copter for very little money.

    • Mark van Werven Sep 16, 2014 at 3:22 pm - Reply

If you want altitude hold, the Cheerson won't do it… But when you get used to the controls, it isn't a problem. I have fairly big hands, so to have more controls, i thought about getting a spare controller (extra quad /props/ charging cable included :P), and mod it to suit my hands, by completely rebuilding the controller.

But the stock TX will have to do, lots of other projects around now, and the stock TX flies fine tbh^^

actually, smaller copters will have much less surface area for wind to push on, so actually it might be less wind sensitive.

Ladybug has coreless, instead of brushless, right? (2 wires instead of 3)

I just finished working on 2 FPV miniquads (Ladybird clones), they need more power to push through high winds, but they'll manage.
In regard to the micro's, I think that because of the relative small size and high mass, the wind can't easily blow it away. At least, thats what I feel when flying outside, for anyone disagreeing, fly it outside, and see for yourself, that's the only logically way to prove or disprove opinions. Theory is nice and all- but this is about fun. Enjoy flying all^^

Some of the more advanced drones allow you to remove and replace the empty LiPo Battery.
Reduces the overall recharge time. The downside is that you have to buy additional batteries.

They said in the video it has no camera on it.  It was built to be the smallest and if they would have added a camera it would have added extra weight.  So, no, no spying with this one.

    • Mark van Werven Aug 31, 2014 at 11:19 am - Reply

This multirotor has absolutely no capacity for lifting anything like a camera. I fly multirotors, even the bigger ones have great difficulty with any added weight. The bigger they get, the noisier. The future will bring more advanced technology- but there just are limits as how far it can evolve. Spying is much easier done with stationairy cams, or for example, hacking someones phone. Easier to do, undetectable, and a lot of people have them with them all the time. I'm not a believer in conspiracies- but that'd be a huge opportunity for evil doing, by spying people with property they gladly buy. There is already proof of phonetaps, and tapping into the camera is a very simple next step.

No, the problem with small drones is that they are totally unstable and impossible to control! It’s interesting that they tried flying it in a large open area where there’s nothing to hit and still didn’t do very well since they can’t be made to hover or steered in the direction you want it to go. They tend to bounce up and down a lot which you can see it doing in the video. Otherwise it tends to dart all over left, right, forward or back on it’s own and it’s fast but there is a slight lag in the controller which makes it impossible to compensate for using the remote.

It has a built in 6-axis gyroscope to keep it steady and it's definitely not for use outdoors.

I suppose you could try it outdoors on a still day but there's no way they designed this with the intention to be used outdoors.

They pop off on crash very easily which is to be expected, but the blades

+Sid B 6-axis? If you do the math right 3-axis is enough for anything.

  58. Mark van Werven Aug 31, 2014 at 2:03 pm - Reply

They mean the accelerometers by that. Not only the gyros stabilize it, but the movement is also calculated in. With only gyroscopic stabilisation, the quad will behave sloppily, having accelerometers means the quad has more accurate control.
This is a very simplyfied explaination, but i hope i'm bringing it clearly enough.

Also, this afternoon i've flown my Cheerson CX-10 outside again with no problems, charging it via USB OTG via my phone.
The stabilisation of the quad is very good, as i just chuck it in the air after startup, and it pulls itself nice and steady in a fraction of a second.

I have one of these, you’d be amazed at just how much wind it can handle. They say it is for inside use only, but I have been flying mine all over as I walk places, it does quite well. My biggest concern it letting it get up over rooftop level and catching the stronger winds, or crashing into a bush. It rises quite quickly, and plummets even quicker when I have to drop the power. So far it’s light enough to stay on top of most brush and I haven’t lost any props yet.

Oh, and if you look on line, you can fine 6 and 12 packs of batts for it, with chargers so you can charge many of them at the same time and switch out.

He mixed up terminology. He confused yaw with roll. Yaw is rudder, it’s on
the same stick as the throttle in Mode 2, which is what this control is
programmed as. Right stick is for Pitch and Roll.

I have this quad and it performs great and is super fun to fly, but one
thing that is missing is protection for the LED lights and motor wires. I
    use Landing Boots
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/221568557180?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 that
I found on eBay and they work great, they come in many colors, not to
mention the many times they saved my micro quads from certain death. I
would highly recommend them to all that have the Proto-X, CX-11 or any
other quads like it. Happy flying! 😉

+Legit Name I understand what you are saying, but it doesn't work like that.
Larger heavier helicopters are slower to respond to the effects of strong wings and have a lot more power to counteract them when needed. I have and fly RC helicopters from about 100g up to 7KG, also have a DJI f450 & f550, my Nano Quad I gave to a friend.

  108. MRS BROWN Nov 3, 2014 at 1:09 pm - Reply

+Legit Name  Not really. Small guys also have less power and short blades that barely cut into the wind. However higher priced small quads with brushless motors ,like my Ladybug, do have the power for some fair controllability .

Spying on the Deaf/ Blind is a big thing, dont underestimate it.

Also, something that I personally find hilarious- random people who think they're being spied upon.. Who do they think they are? Recording people's surfing habits is much easier- see facebook/ google. Do they really think that someone will take the time to send in a copter/ camera, to spy on people? 1 hit on the propellers- and the thing goes down. 1 case of a government drone actually doing something like that- and the government falls.

Bigger drones can carry heavier camera's- but make more sound/ need more room. Fixed wing aircraft make less/ no noise- but they must move.

The only serious risk of someone spying on another- is a miniature camera, placed inside a room. Unless the government hacks all the cameraphones- no chance of that, unless you know the person spying on you. And if you find that person out- sue them. Make a little money. Because spying, no matter the technique used- is wrong. This- is not- this is a toy that can carry no more than it's own weight for max 8 minutes.

That promo guys reply was not good lol, don’t just agree when someone is critiquing your product, come up with a solution to the issue, “why is the controller so small”, he could mention something like they reduced the size to fit with the drone, so it can be easily portable, but the controller joy sticks are left large enough for bigger or smaller thumbs, so it will still control seamlessly in your hand.

Next time can we get someone that actually knows how to fly a nano quadcopter?

I have two different models one has a big controller and the other a tiny one. It’s amazing how easily maneuverable they are. But the propellers break off easily.

Lol your smart ^^ but this is our answer to the millitarys use of drones. What do you expect us to do? Let them have all the fun? Look some people on the tube have figured out how to redesign them for combat purposes.

So sick of quads or rc aircraft with cams attached being called drones- theyre not drones untill a autopilot is in use on it for me that my next step in my fpv platform is the autopilot for if im out of range
