Nintendo has revealed that they are bringing Mario Kart to Smartphones. The announcement arrived earlier today via Twitter that the game is in development and will release before the end of March 2019.
Whilst the news is a bit of a shock and should be welcomed by gamers across the planet, Nintendo has released a whole host of its titles on mobile recently. Mario has already made is mobile phone debut in the form of Super Mario Run. As well as that they have also released Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, Pokemon Go, Miitomo and Fire Emblem Heroes.

Nintendo has been taking a different tact with their mobile releases to their competitors. They seem to be selling their games as premium, one-time purchases rather than the microtransaction-heavy strategies employed by others.

No further details regarding Mario Kart Tour were released other than the soft release window although details were revealed for Nintendo’s upcoming paid online service, SNES Classic sales figures were released and we finally got confirmation that a Mario movie is in production

In what seems to be a day of clearing out news Nintendo America continued to dish out the announcements by declaring that Nintendo Switch Online will launch in September 2018
