Project Zomboid interview with The Indie Stone's Will Porter

Project Zomboid by The The Indie Stone is an isometric Zombie survival RPG, taking influence from games such as the massive DayZ! Clubit Gaming’s Charlotte spoke to Creative Director and Writer, Will Porter at EGX 2015.

The Indie Stone are a working out of Canada and the UK and also seem to include an awesome little Racoon as part of the team called Spiffo!

Before a player is dropped into the Zombie environment there are loads of parameters a player can use to incrementally adjust the difficulty of the game. There are choices to be made about the environment, the behaviour of the Zombie hoards and also choices regarding the players strengths and weaknesses.

Once a player is in the game they must tactically navigate the environment to avoid getting chewed upon by the Zeds. The player must scavenge/loot, and craft/create to stay safe within their sandbox environment. Throughout the gameplay, players will develop their characters skill set and also have the option of co-op play with others using user generated servers!

The Indie Stone are also developing a mod-tool to allow players to mod the game, hopefully to create and elements they can imagine. Added to this the team are developing various vehicles and NPC content for the game! Project Zomboid has been available on Steam Early Access for a couple of years now and, Will tells us that the team are hopeful of a full release in 2016 for Windows, MacOS and Linux.

I love the detail in gameplay which The Indie Stone have brought to the gameplay. They are constantly looking at ways in which to bring increased parameters which a player must consider when avoiding the Zeds.
