Tonight (9th October 2015) ten zones across Leeds will be lit up with eye catching artistic installations, exhibitions, film, dance, theatre and street entertainment. This will be the eleventh celebration of creative and experimental arts to illuminate Leeds City Center. #artinthedark
Leeds Light Night is part of an organisation called Lighting Up The North. The other participants in this celebration of arts are; Blackpool, York, Durham, Gateshead and Manchester.
Artists will be transforming many of Leeds public buildings late into the night, showcasing their creativity, inspiration and alternative ideas.
The 10 zones for art installations are:
• Millennium Square
• Leeds Town Hall
• Leeds Train Station
• Victoria Gardens
• Quarry Hill
• University of Leeds
• South Bank
• First Direct Arena
Leeds Light Night will also coincide with the launch of the 2015 Leeds International Film Festival programme in the Leeds Town Hall. Many of the spaces in the town hall will be made available to host a range of artwork and performances. Plus there will be tours of the Clock Tower to catch some stunning views of the city at night.
Last year, (2014) we experienced this wonderful tapas of creativity and, you can see from the video below just how impressive it looks. The installation, created by Omni Pictures was projected on to the iconic Leeds Civic Hall Building in Millennium Square, Leeds.
Also we caught this highly entertaining and inspired pair (Granny Turismo) on Briggate, showing just what can be done with a flair for creativity and an obvious sense of humour.
